The Gibbz Advantage
Gibbz patented side charging system allows for mechanical and strategic advantage in the field. Imagine being able to stay locked on target while cycling your action. Imagine clearing a missfire with one hand. Imagine not having to worry about the side handle reciprocating while firing. These advantages create an opportunity for precision and flow well beyond the current standard.
Patented Non-Reciprocating Charging Handle
A rearward pull of the side charging handle will work the action; however, once charged, the side charging handle stays locked forward while the action cycles. Post up on the nearest wall, door, or tree without concern. All the advantages of traditional charging handles with the added convenience of a side charging handle. You will never have to worry about the handle impacting your hand, the cover, or barriers during operation.
Compatible with ALL Bolt Carrier Groups
The Gibbz Arms Side Charge Upper design is compatible with any* bolt carrier group (BCG) including 9mm and .22LR conversion bolts. Simply replace a BCG’s standard cam-pin with the Gibbz Arms Enhanced Cam-Pin and your BCG is ready to run. Your conversion bolt doesn’t use a cam-pin, no worries! The Gibbz Arms Enhanced Cam-Pin is only necessary in BCGs that need a cam-pin to operate, all other BCGs will run without it. The Gibbz Arms Side Charge Handle is designed to interface with the same step, in the front of the Bolt Carrier, that a traditional charging handle does. It just reaches in from the side instead.
*We are not aware of any BCG that won’t work in our upper
Robust and Snag Resistant Handle
Gibbz refined the shape, size, and strength of our side charging handle through countless hours of testing and feedback. The design allows for smooth, flawless operation regardless of kit orientation, clothing, or gear. By keeping a static non-folding handle, our handle is much less likely to get snagged in a MOLLE strap, and its blunt shape reduces the pressure on the operator should they come into more forceful contact with the handle. In the event of a malfunction the Gibbz Arms Charging Handle will accept whatever force is needed to quickly clear the rifle.
Maintain Sight Picture & Grip of Fire Controls
The Gibbz side charging handle is operated, primarily, with the shooter’s supporting hand. Thus, the bolt can be cycled while the weapon is still shouldered, the trigger is still covered, and the sight picture is maintained. This allows you to sustain adequate cheek weld and on-target sight picture. You can also keep your shooting hand on the fire controls at all times, even while clearing a malfunction or manipulating the bolt stop.
Improved Operation with Scopes or Larger Optics
The Gibbz side charging handle allows you to mount your optics in the most optimum position with no regard to bolt operation. Ideal scope position is often compromised on rifles with a traditional charging handle. In many cases, optics must be installed higher and/or further forward, so their objective lens won’t interfere with the operation of a rear charging handle. Our side charge handle also allows for flawless operation while in the prone or other tactical shooting positions.
Easy Bolt Stop Operation
All Gibbz Arms Lowers are designed with PDQ Ambi-Bolt Releases. For right-hand shooters, the bolt catch is in easy reach of the handle at all times. You can pull the bolt back while reaching down with your thumb to manually operate the bolt stop. For left-hand shooters utilizing right-hand lowers, you can usually pull the bolt back with the support hand, while reaching forward with a thumb to manually operate the bolt stop.
Clean Suppressed Shooting
All Gibbz Arms Uppers are designed with a rear access door and charging handle slide cover that protects you from blowback and keeps the operating gases inside the firearm. Thus, when you are shooting suppressed, your exposure to increased back pressure gases is significantly reduced.
